[macramedildo]
What's your favorite bakery in Seattle?
Alternately, are there any that specialize in Polynesian sweet breads?

I'm a Pastry student at the New England Culinary Institute looking to do an internship in my home city, is the root of what I'm getting to.

Hey y'all.

I have a 2002 Jetta wagon that isn't in drivable condition. Do any of you wonderful snarkers have any tips or experience junking/scrapping a car for money?

Does this exist? Am I crazy? I just don't have the time or money to fix 'er up. (Cosmetic damage)

If you do, by all means, halp.

If you don't, by all means: snark.

Thanks!

Medical Cost Website [03 Jan 2010|11:56am]

I came across this website and thought I would share it.

http://www.pricedoc.com/

You can search for medical care (medical, vision, dental, etc) in your area and it looks like they all have the prices listed. I know people have asked about cheap area medical clinics, hopefully this will help for future reference.

Bellingham Beauty School? [03 Jan 2010|12:59am]

Has anyone attended/know anything about Bellingham Beauty School's cosmetology program?

I am seriously considering it (I would attend in about a year) and was curious about what they offer in the particular program, the website tells me very little and I've googled for reviews for the program and have found nothing. (I also checked through the back entries and found nothing.)

-I was wondering about the training that I would receive if I attended, especially in regards to coloring, updos and vintage hairstyling especially.

-Was financial aid easy to receive, and how well did it cover the cost of tuition?

-I'm also curious about any supplies I might need/should acquire/will be useful. It would be easier to know ahead of time to purchase them, so I could slowly beginning collecting equipment now while I have the money instead of having to do it in one huge cash blow out.

Aside from that, any sort of general information about the program would be great! Any sort of positive/negative review.

Short-term social events [02 Jan 2010|01:54pm]

seattle

[mulled_mead]
Hi Seattle,

So I've checked out the social and community tags, and I don't think Google is likely to be any help here, so here goes. I'm a college student going "home" to the Bellevue area for the next two weeks. My parents moved there after I went to college, so I don't know anyone, and for the last three breaks have mostly stayed in and hung out with the family. This year, though, I want to go out and meet people. Do you guys have any suggestions for a lonely college student who wants to break out of the box? I've filled out apps for EarthCorps and NWHarvest (which I did find via Memories) but I'm open to anything really -- bars, concerts, hunting for aliens with seaweed and manure...

Thanks a bunch and happy snarking.

Not to be a party pooper, but I'm going to be a party pooper. The calender we use started at year one. Not Zero. And since a decade is a full 10 years, a new one would start on a year ending in one. Not zero. The new decade starts in 2011 and the new millennium started in 2001. Snark away!

Need a plumber in Seattle [31 Dec 2009|09:37am]

seattle

[jimthecat]
I need some help.

As we all know, capitalist forces do not want us to know about alien life on earth. This is part of the suppression of the will of the people through drugs. Yes, yes, we all know this.

However, using some drug blocking herbs (not organic) and also a body suit made from sea weed (farm raised) and chicken manure (manure has many mind protecting properties) I have been able to eliminate the mind blinding force (temporarily). You can ask me for a recipe if you would like to verify my claims. This is how science works. You do not need to sing but it does help a little I have found. The suit only needs to go on your torso.

Using this technique, I was able to identify and then shake hands with an alien in Pioneer Square last night. It was a pleasant handshake, although with all the seaweed and manure it was hard to hold on for very long. We didn’t talk because I have not been able to invent or find a remedy for aural blocking technology (cell phone towers). However, aliens are able to place a thought in your mind.

I have a message for Seattle from the aliens. They are here for peaceful purposes but are growing frustrated by our capitalist government. They were friends with Russia but not anymore. They have told me China is a capitalist nation now, too.

As you can imagine, I was frightened and went immediately home and took a shower. In the future I will rinse off outside first and then come in for a final rinse. My drain is clogged and I need a plumber now. if you know of one that is not afraid of chickens please let me know.

Thanks Seattle and also Happy New Year!

Looking For An Ascot Necktie - My Google-fu Fails Me [29 Dec 2009|10:49pm]

Where *in the city of Seattle*, can might a man buy an ascot tomorrow? Not online. In person, tomorrow.

Nordstrom had none. Nor Macy's.

Brooks Brother's only two slightly-expensive and kinda-meh ones.

Men's Wearhouse shows none on the website, although we'll probably call to check that when they open.

I'd think a place that rents wedding/formalwear might sell them, but none of the local-store sites I'm finding mention them. Has anyone seen ascots being sold anywhere?

Seattle Dog Attack. [30 Dec 2009|01:46am]

Does anybody have information or know someone who witnessed the dog attack outside of Burger King in Seattle this afternoon? Some guy with his pit bulls tied up outside alone, and when he went back out they were mauling a woman.

Its extremely important that I hear from you... Someone's life is being ruined because of this.
